Plans & billing

Mastria has two plans, billed yearly, each with unlimited learners. You pay Mastria through Stripe, from Admin → Settings → Plan. This page is about your academy's plan; for your learners paying you, see Selling certificates.

The plans

• Core: courses and labs, the dashboard and learning analytics, data in and out (CSV exports, signed webhooks, the metric ingest API), sign-in from your product, your own domain, and certificate sales. Unlimited learners.
• Impact: everything in Core, plus the impact comparisons (on Admin → Impact, people who finished a course against coworkers who hadn't), connected labs (labs that run against your own product, built with you when you need one), and priority support.

Each plan's yearly price shows on its card in Settings → Plan, and again in Stripe Checkout before you pay, in US dollars wherever you are.

Before you have a plan

You can build everything: courses, labs, your brand, your domain, your team. Learners can't use the academy yet. Every page they open says "<Your academy> isn't open right now", search is off, and lessons don't record anything. Your team sees and uses the whole academy as usual, so you can preview every course. There's no trial clock: take as long as you need.

Certificates issued before an academy closed always open. A certificate is never revoked.

Choose a plan

On Admin → Settings → Plan, press Choose Core or Choose Impact (owners and admins; authors see the card). Stripe Checkout asks for a card, your billing address, and your company's tax ID (your VAT number, in the EU) for the invoice. Billing is yearly, from the day you subscribe. Your price doesn't go up when the plan renews. Back in Settings, the card shows your plan and when it renews, and learners can open the academy right away.

The dashboard's Set up your academy checklist has a Choose a plan step, and the dashboard says when learners can't open the academy.

Switch to Impact

On Core, Settings → Plan shows Impact beside your plan. Switch to Impact opens Stripe on the upgrade: it shows what's charged now, for the rest of the year you've paid for, and the comparisons appear as soon as you confirm.

Manage billing

Manage billing opens Stripe's billing page for your academy:

• Switch plans. Moving up to Impact is charged at once, for the rest of the year you've paid for. Moving down to Core takes effect when the plan renews.
• Update the card, the billing address, the email invoices go to, and your tax ID.
• Download invoices.
• Cancel. The plan runs to the end of the year you've paid for. Then learners can't use the academy until it has a plan again. Your courses, learners and data stay, and Settings → Exports works on any plan or none.

The card says where things stand: Renews on a date, Ends on a date once cancelled, or Payment failed: update the card in Manage billing. While Stripe retries a failed renewal, the academy stays open. If every retry fails, it closes to learners until you choose a plan again.

Impact on Core

On Core, Admin → Impact keeps your metric data: the ingest API keeps taking events, and Impact → Data shows every one. The comparisons are replaced by See plans, which opens Settings → Plan. Switch to Impact and every event already received is compared.
